Choose between an associate of arts or associate of science degree if you will continue at a four-year college. While certain courses are recommended, the requirements include the basic courses appropriate for the first two years of many bachelor degree programs. These degrees do not list a degree major.

General degree requirements
- At least 60 semester hours of college-level credit, 18 hours must be at Lone Star College System and apply to the degree. Courses from regionally accredited institutions will be evaluated and applied to degree requirements if:
- At least a grade of "D" was earned.
- The cumulative GPA of the courses applied to the degree or certificate is equal to a 2.0 "C" grade point average.
- Satisfy core competency requirements.
- A 2.0 cumulative grade point average for Lone Star College System courses applying toward your degree requirements.
- A 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all credit courses earned at Lone Star College System (graduation GPA).
- Satisfy Lone Star College System SSI requirements.
- A completed formal application for graduation submitted to our office of admissions on or before the announced deadline.
- All transcripts must be on file and all financial obligations to Lone Star College System complete, including all records cleared in the Library.
If you graduate within five years of your initial Lone Star College System enrollment in credit courses, you may graduate according to the catalog requirements in effect at the time of your initial enrollment or according to any subsequent catalog provided the degree, program, and requisite courses are still offered at Lone Star College System. If you fail to complete the catalog requirements within five years, you will be required to graduate under a catalog not older than five years. The vice president for education programs and resources may approve exception to this requirement in extenuating circumstances.
If you enroll in your first year of credit courses prior to fall 1993, you will graduate according to requirements in effect at that time provided the degree, the program, and requisite courses are still being offered. |
This degree is designed to prepare you for employment in a specific career. In addition to general education requirements, specific technical or occupational curriculum is required for each program.

General degree requirements
The general education block for each program must contain a minimum of 15 college credit hours.

In addition, graduates are expected to master the Lone Star College System Perspectives in the core curriculum and Basic Intellectual Competencies in the core curriculum. These requirements can be fulfilled through successful completion of identified courses or attainment of identified competencies in a specific certificate or program. Program administrators, faculty, or advisors will provide specific information.

Graduates must also meet the computer literacy requirement, math (minimum completion of MATH 0308 plus any math degree requirements) and oral communication competencies, wellness, and multicultural requirements. |
